Energy efficiency is an increasingly important concept in the power engineering, where, thanks to new technologies and situation on the electricity market, as well as new available financing methods, an intensification in the implementation of energy efficiency measures is expected in the coming years.
The foundation for this in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is provided by the Law on Energy Efficiency. This law regulates energy efficiency in final consumption, recognizing it as a matter of public interest. It mandates the adoption and implementation of plans to improve energy efficiency and outlines measures such as energy services and energy audits.
The Law also sets out the responsibilities of the public sector and the rights and obligations of end consumers, including those in the public, residential, and commercial sectors, as well as large consumers. It addresses the application of energy efficiency measures, financing methods for energy efficiency improvements, and other important issues related to energy efficiency in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
