JAJCE 1 Hydroelectric Power Plant is located in the Central Bosnia Canton, on the left bank of the Vrbas River, adjacent to the main road Jajce – Banja Luka. It is seven kilometers downstream from the city of Jajce. The power plant utilizes water from the natural accumulation of the Great Pliva Lake, which is at an altitude of 427.10 meters. During the Homeland War, it was devastated, with its facilities and equipment in very poor condition due to flooding of the turbine area and fires caused by wartime activities. Through renovation, it has been transformed into a modern and functional medium-strength power plant. Jajce 1 HPP represents an accumulation-derivation power plant with the capability of daily leveling thanks to its accumulation basin.
